I fitted new front brake pads over the weekend, referring to advice I got off the net (https://www.klr650.marknet.us/brakepads.html).
One picture is puzzeling me (see below).
That cylindrical "thing" inside the piston (looks like a wooden dowel)... Well, my '04 KLR does not have that... I looked all over the floor in case it fell out, but no luck. What IS that?????
After fitting the wheel back on, it looks like the pads are off-set by about 1 mm (just about the same amount that "thing" is sticking out of the hollow piston... coincidence?). The top pad is lying right onto the disc (free-wheeling not possible), while the bottom pad is 2 mm away. If I pull the brake, it actually pulls the disc to one side / bends it.
Any help on this bizarre situation???
