The bolts holding your footpeg brackets onto the KLR.
Check yours regularly!
Replace the standard ones with hi tensile 12.9 bolts with a lot of loctite and check every month for tightness.
If they come slightly loose the vibrate and destroy the threads on the mounting point.
Happened to me on the newbie ride this last weekend and I had to make a plan to fix.
So the procedure.
A. Drill out the old 8mm holes on the mounting point with a 8.5mm bit.
B. Use a 10mm tap with lots of cutting paste.
C. Drill out the bracket holes to 10mm.
C. Insert new 10mmx20 long 12.9 bolts with loctite !
Repeat.
I did both sides because I dont trust it after this weekend but you should be fine if you keep them 12.9 and tight !
I would not suggest you do this immediately because there is not much room to go bigger (could do 12mm) if you mess up with the 10mm.
