Crab
Race Dog
200km from home down a gravel road going nowhere, and my KLR was stone dead when I wanted to start it after a short break.
No lights, hooter or anything electical working. After stripping off the seat it became evident that the 20 amp main fuse had blown, I replaced it with the 10 amp spare kept in the fuse box and it too blew.
Next off came the tank and then followed much unplugging of plugs to try and determine what circuit had a problem. Beagle Boy spotted the problem as soon as I bridged out the blown fuse with a screwdriver and melted some wires.
The live feed to the indicator relay had chafed through and caused a short against the frame top tube.
So next time you have your tank off to do maintenance, have a look and see if your wire to the indicator relay is rubbing on the frame, if it is, you might be let down some time.
