KLR shorting out main fuse off brake lights

My KLR shorts the main 20amp fuse out (on the relay) if I engage either the front or back brakes. If i disconnect the brake light switches the bike runs. I have checked the wiring under the tank for wear but it looks good. The other fuses under the seat are good. Any advice or a recommendation of a good bike auto electrical specialist in Cape Town will be appreciated.
