KTM 990 Adventure Dakar with R suspension - Is it "ok"

I am looking at a 2011 KTM 990 Adventure Dakar with R suspension and progressive spring in front.
Is this a mod that is acceptable and safe?
I had the standard 990adv before and was quite happy with that.
