Not really a Ride Report, just some pics taken along the way.

Great bunch of guys and a girl, met at XWays in Hilton, then headed out through Howick and up the karkloof through De Magtenberg plantation. In total 12 bikes, 2 with pillions.

More pics

Very dry countryside, can't wait for the rains to start.

I Was very impressed with the way the so-called "newbies" managed. Gaz Gaz handled his GS1150 like an old pro, nothing seemed to phase him.

Rhino brought his 3 sons along for the ride, they also managed well

From Karkloof we headed out through Rietvlei, along forrestry and farm roads, then towards Muden and our lunch stop at Ivala Hotel. Big thanks to the owners for the great spread they put on for us.

MCB brought his daughter along on the ride, Marc handled his 800 like a pro, I think Doreen is hooked on biking now, don't think it will be long before she arrives on a ride on her own bike.

After lunch took a track that met up with the Middelrus road, then stopped at the Mooi Falls for a quick look.

After that headed back home along a mixture of tar and dirt. Got home about 15h30.

Thanks everyone who came along, great bunch of people. Nice to see some old faces who I haven't ridden with for a while and also great to meet some new guys who I'm sure I'll be riding with in the future.

Lekker Jon!.... Looks like it was a goodie!
Might do another easy meander in this area soon. As Gunda said... We've done some exploring, and found some new sites that are newbie friendly as well!  :thumleft:

Please post when - I love that Muden / Weenen Road and would be fun on a bike.

Thanks JonW, for the ride out i had great time riding with you guys. And meeting you all. Makes me wanting more even though i didn't have full convinced but tackled it anyway, with a few big eye moments . Oh and the horse that ran in my way.  :ricky:

Nice one Jon..... everyone had fun as usual.
Thanks for doing a noob ride. :thumleft:

JonW, great to see you again. Its been a while!! Am glad you guys and gal had a great days ride. Nice to have met a few new fellow bikers.

A big thanks to Trevor for taking the rocky roads less travelled. It was an absolute jol. :ricky: Sorry for holding you up on the last hill though, I was completely knackered and had to take a breather. In the end I got chatting to some local kids and just enjoyed the scenery and the time out in the boonies :thumleft:

A word of advice to those who may make the same mistake as I did. If youre having a big lunch and know you will be riding again afterwards, DO NOT over eat like I did!!  :( I made a complete  :snorting: of myself and by the time I got back on my bike, I had a serious case of lethargy and had zero energy. So lesson learned, but I had a brilliant ride home and managed to get back at about 5:00 or so.

NO mate, This is the kind of riding I am trying to get more into. I have been riding a hefty 750 for the past few years so a ride like this on the 650 was awesome. And the tracks were superb, albiet a bit tiring!!  :lol8:

Gotta lay off the biscuits and find my running shoes :peepwall:

Your bike is definitely built for that riding, big bikes not so much
