Hi All.
A while ago I plotted a route (on Google earth) from Umhlanga to Ballito through the Sugarcane roads. My mate Bram and I checked it out last Sunday. When we got to Ballito we had a beer at the KEG and decided we hadn’t done enough riding for the day, so we made another route back to Umhlanga It was a good jol. In fact it was such a lekker ride, I decided to take my dad and his mates this past Sunday to see for themselves There was an 800GS (Me), anniversary 1200 GSA (my old man), red 1200GSA (Anthon), Silver 1200GS (Neville)
The track consists of nice open Cane roads, some Sandy sections, hills, lose rocks, a small crossing with bigger rocks and breathtaking views of the Northern parts of Durban.
Umhlanga to Ballito – 40km
Ballito (Colisheen) to Umhlanga- 50km
*I must also warn that this time of year (all the time actually) you need to be careful when riding the cane roads. There is allot of activity as they are cutting, burning and loading cane all over

Anyway here is a couple of pics.

Nice trip. What is the hole in the 800's windscreen for?

Something seriously wrong with this group! Where are the orange bikes?

Dont worry the orange beasts are here.We just didn't crack the nod.
We regularly use that route from Umhlanga to Ballito ,just remember that it is private property and be careful of them hauling cane.

Minzi- the whole is part of the design, I bought it like that and it seems to work well in throwing air up and over me. There is supposed to be a little wing at the top of the screen as well but it broke of while washing the bike ;D You'll notice the right mirror is missing as well :ricky: Still looking for a new one.

Adv- Ja, no orange bikes there, but I'm sure in due time the group will grow. The only prob is, there are quite a bit of sandy sections :pot:

The link to the route I would have to e-mail, I think, because I can't seem to post a link here.

Trevorwb: Yes, I big part of it is private property and there was quite a bit of activity where the guys are caning, but I think if you behave and just pass through the people don't seem to mind. There was some mountain bikers on some parts.

Nice ride there......Thanks for the RR :thumleft: :ricky:

My brother in law is coming down around the end of March and i would like to take him on a ride, could you possibly email me the route as i am new to riding and dont know of many places to go riding.  :thumleft:

Howzit man. I'll try and locate the file.
Otherwise give me a ring closer to the time and I can take you on this loop :thumleft:

I recognize a lot of those places having ridden my mountain bike in the sugar cane fields for about in7 or 8 years now.It is Tongaat Hulet land and they can get touchy about who is on their land.some really beautiful spots out there.
