Awesome! Who is on the 701? Good to see I am not the only one on a 701 with a BMW twatsuit :imaposer:

Would love to do a trip like this with my 701! :ricky:

Any issues with the bikes on the trip?

W@anted, I would recommend replacing your clutch slave with an Oberon or other aftermarket option before such a trip. Mine went at ±3000km on the 701. Would have been a bitch if it went on Jockstrap...

Thanks again Losper for the amazing, epic trip!

PS. This is my first post on the forum.

Hi!

Thanks for the feedback. I have not read about many clutch failures on the 701's? Is this common during technical riding?

I've heard about a few. I actually bought the Oberon before the OEM gave in after reading about failures on other forums, but did not have the time to replace it. Then the OEM suddenly went one Sunday afternoon while doing a technical ride. Magura changed from mineral oil to brake fluid a while back, and some of the new seals are not up to the task. My local dealer has replaced 3, not sure out of how many bikes sold.

Day 3: Ramabanta, Jockstrap pass, Roma river bed, Maseru
Jockstrap pass is a well known pass in Lesotho for it's difficulty level for adventure bikes. The pass is in it's worst condition that I have ever seen it and I am glad that we went down and not up. It is around 1.3km long and it took us about 1.5hours to decent. We stopped a lot. From there there is a great 2 spoor gravel road to Nyakosoba.
Behind Roma is an awesome section where you can ride in the river bed which was also a highlight of the trip. The last 50km to Maseru is tar.

Nee Tinus jy verbeel niks.

Los hom laat hy val waar hy wil...

Sorry for the highjack Losper!

I ordered mine from CJ Designs (https://www.cjdesignsllc.com) in the US as I have dealt with them before, but you can also order directly from Oberon Performance (https://www.oberon-performance.co.uk/acatalog/Husqvarna.html). The correct model is the CLU-1000. You don't re-use the o-ring fitted on the back of the OEM unit as the new unit comes with its own gasket and seal.

Hi Weskus,  ja kyk daai Africa Twin is koning, geniet hom kwaai. Met sy lae centre of gravity is hy 'n plesier in die tegnies.

Yo, yo, you are a bunch of machines.
Jockstrap on my DRZ400 nearly killed me. We did it from Mahale Dam side towards Ramabanta.
& you guys were riding 990 / 1000 / 1190 .......
Respect!!!!!!! :thumleft:

Shoe, a lot of work but great fun! Amazing you got the bikes through there with no damage.

Thanks for the great photos & video guys.
