After a good nights rest in Ladybrand i packed all my gear on the bike and then the big moment... I switched on the ignition and hit the starter button. the starter swung away enthusiastically for a second and then she fired into life.  The relief was immense as this was the moment of  trough.  i filled up with fuel and headed of in the direction of Clocolan, Ficksburg, Fouriesburg and ended up in Clarens just before lunch.  Had a proper large pizza at one of the local restaurants with a cold Castle Light draught while enjoying the autum sun and scenery in Clarens.  After lunch i was on my way again in the direction for the Golden Gate Higlands national Park.  The scenery was truly amazing.  What struck me though was the lack of wildlife in the park. No springbuck, blesbuck not even any birds...

Halfway through the park i came across some road bikers fully kitted in their leathers shiny cups filled whith a substance that really made them happy.  They were dancing next to the road.  They tried to coerce me into pulling over and joining in the festivities.  I however resisted and continued along the road. Next up was the sterkfontein dam Nature reserve.  I arrived at the dam late afternoon and the dam was a sight to behold.  the photos i took did not do the spectacle justice.  After a short stop i was on my way again in the direction of Bergville. I stopped at a filling station in Bergville and filled up Ginger with some 95 unleaded. and had a quick break in the car park when two farmers approached me and we started chatting.  To cut a long story short the one farmer is divorced and his ex wifes lawyer was from Bloemfontein.  The farmer also mentioned an incident where he told his son to shoot his "kettie" in a local Spur full of patrons to his ex wife's disgust.  The farmers then invited me to a big sporting event in the region the saturday afternoon namely the club rugby match between the Bergville and Winterton clubs.  I declined and headed on my way to my overnight spot between Bergville and Winterton.  The backpackers was totally deserted and i had the whole place to myself.  Bliss... I had a good nights rest and was on my way again the next morning...
