After scouting about a bit at the "dead end" to see if there's any obvious place the road goes, we turned around and headed back to the Popallin farm again. On top of a rocky koppie we found an incredible lookout point equipped with some lapa facilities, looks like an awesome hangout! I was tempted to fetch the tent and camp right up there.

Daardie uitkyk lyk soos Leeudraai Safaris se gronde. Was al menige keer daar!

So could not wait for night shift. Awesome report, and awesome riding. Thank you for sharing

WE MISSED OUT ON BILTONG!? Awwwww :drif:

Very interesting and fun-looking "roads", but definitely small bike territory! Thanks for showing as these beautiful spots, since being on the opposite end of the country, it's probably not a place I'll get to see in real life.

Your reports always make me excited, and more than a tad jealous. Thanks for sharing, looks like it was an awesome ride!

Never say never! Van Zyls is at the other side of the world too and you got to do that :)

I think I'll have to create a list of up-country rides and make a big trip of it one day. It looks like you can spend a long time getting lost in the little smuggler trails! And, as OomD says, your ride reports seem to traverse all the cool spots. I've been a bit absent on the forum recently, but I think I'll start digging again in the RR section, starting with your RRs!  ;D

Well done, great RR of a great ride. :thumleft:
It looks like an awesome "untouched" area but all that sand scares the cr@p out of me (and my GS).

I cant wait for the next epic RR :peepwall:

Glad everyone enjoyed the report ;D

And haha, sand is fine, as long as you are on the right bike! :)

The KTM 500s have truly opened up a new world of adv riding for us! Suddenly all the really "extreme" stuff is actually quite enjoyable :)

More people should internalise this. It really is night and day when comparing something more akin to a dirt bike to something resembling a cruiser. The frightening stuff becomes fun!
