Last Saturday  we had a ride out through Darling to Piketberg .
When I got into town , I heard a strange noise in the motor.
After I stopped and switched off the bike I heard the rattle again.

I started the bike again and switched it off.
It sounded like the timing chain was very loose.
We went to the garage , I checked the oil but it seemed fine, added some anyway(for piece of mind)

LONG story short

Took it in to Helderberg Yamaha.Started the bike for the machanic to hear , (it sounded worse),He says , ag nee wat , ek weet wat dit is.
Ons het laas weet so geraas gehoor.
They called me back today , apparently , a nut in the RH side cover had come loose .

Parts we need to replace are :
A new RH side cover gasket , water pump gasket , a new lock washer for this nut and  as soon as the parts are here , your bike is sorted !

I`m very glad it wasn't my crankshaft bearings , because thats what it sounded like to me !

Still puzzling , I did 76 000 km on my XT660R and really rode it way harder than my Tenere and it never gave me a gays   trouble! ( flip , I meant " a days trouble" ) thanks sprocketbeck !

Oh ! and I wheelie d it every other day too !
