Soooooooo, who's keen on this one for this Sunday?? Plastic ride only!!
High and low tech ride near the Vaal - an hour out of JHB. This is on farmers' land and is one (sort of) giant loop with smaller tech loops here and there. No sand but can be muddy in the low lands, lots of tweespoor through the fields and then some nice rocky bits. The tech bits are extreme and are only do-able on a plastic. This has been used for off-road racing in the past
Last time I was there it cost R50 to get in. No real facilities to speak of but there's a portaloo or 2 for those whoshit, sorry, sit. Shaded braai area with an old concrete reservoir to swim in - water suspect though.
Can ride at own pace, getting lost is nearly impossible. Big loop will take a couple hours to complete. Tech loops - different story!
So, anyone? A good mornings riding followed by a braai and a beer ............
