Hi there.
Today I want to present the latest product from The Biker Box (www.thebikerbox.com) called the Black Box Power Unit.
It is a 12V Power Unit box that can be installed anywhere on your motorbike but preferably on the inside of a Top Box or side panniers and even inside a tank bag.
The main reason behind the usability of the Black Box is to allow for charging and using devices (MP3 players, Notebooks, Netbooks, Cell Phones, etc.) within a secure place. A Top Box or side panniers can be locked and they are save from nature and from theft.
The Black Box consists of a hardened material connection (waterproof) that will not allow for water or dust to enter the power connection points or the inside of the top box or side panniers. The connection can be stored underneath the seat or completely removed when not used. The diameter of the entry hole in the top box or side panniers is 14mm.
It has a fuse on the inside that can easily be replaced should it break and two additional wires are installed to allow for any other power output e.g. lights.
On the front next to the power socket, a red LED light will indicate power availability.
It supplies power via two options:
1) A USB (5v, 1ohm) connection that will charge any USB device and the voltage output is the same as a PC or notebook.
2) A power socket being either a normal cigarette lighter or a Hella (DIN) power socket. A combination of cigarette lighter and Hella socket (including USB) is also available.
It is available in black and with diameters of 55mm x 85mm and the height varies between 30mm (Hella) and 35mm (cigarette lighter).
Installation is quick and simple and very simple to accomplish. The Black Box can be installed permanently with supplied rivets or double-sided tape.
