Well about 4 years ago after riding around on Malabu’s 800 as pillion, I decided I wanted my own bike, after much deliberating it was decided that a BMW650 Dakar was just the thing for me… so after putting out the feelers, Hentie contacted me to say he had the perfect bike for me so off I went to Bethlehem to go fetch my new life…
I had never owned a bike before and after riding around the block a few times on Mals KLR I was It was like fording rivers and traversing mountains well epic proportions the excitement I felt , the wind was blowing a rate of knots that day and I managed about 30km before Mal took pity on me and swopped the car seat for a the bike seat, I still had a huge grin all the way home.
And from that day on I have loved biking… I get seriously cranky if I can’t ride, now with 72,000 kays on the clock… can’t take credit for them all but I have put on about 40,000 kays of that on mostly gravel roads… My Dakar is not as pretty as she was on that day I went to fetch her.
So after chatting to Blazes we decided some sprucing up was on the cards…… this then is the journey of My Dakar to its new life, which is the least I can do for all the wonderful trips she has taken me on.
