Never ridden a bike before and a friend invited me to another friends farm at riviersonderent for some practical training!
The bike is a Yamaha TW 200.
Needless to say, there were no tar roads so my first ride ever was on dirt.
The first couple of corners were quite daunting, but once I got the right gear/speed when entering things got a whole lot easier!
We did about 100 km`s on some serious off-road tracks and all went well except for one incident where I nearly landed in a dam! There quite a serious incline and the person leading did quite a fast turn when he got to the top. My thoughts were that he wanted to see how I manage. I built up quite a bit of speed and as I got to the top realised why he made such a fast turn...
We were riding up a dam wall, and on the other side was well, water.
I fell off the bike but managed to prevent both the bike and myself from going for a swim.
The lesson: Never drive up a incline if you dont know what is on the other side
All in all a good time was had and I have some more confidence for riding that KLR650 coming in two weeks time.
