So I went to collect my bike over the weekend from BMW in Upington. Now I grew up in this part of the country and have a real soft spot for the people and places. My folks still farms near a please called Grootdrink. They recently converted my granny's old house into a self catering guesthouse (B&B available on request) and this is becoming a real stopover spot for travelers. More info can be found on https://www.wheretostay.co.za/oumasehuis/
My uncle also just started a "padstal" called KALBAS. And this is not just a name chosen out of thin air. He is actually the largest calabash farmer in the country (I stand to be corrected). Here at the KALBAS padstal you will be able to see all the handcrafted calabash products and more. https://www.calabash.co.za/index.php?page=home
So if anyone of you is planning a route through this part of the country, please feel free to stop and experience that side of the Northern Cape. And if this type of advertising is not allowed, my apologies!
