Here's why you need to keep the weekend of 13-15 Feb 2009 Free for the Nelson's Creek Gathering:
* It's a family-oriented event, close to Cape Town. You can camp on the estate, in a family-friendly environment.
* Many use it as their first, no-risk camping trip on the bike. Many have their family join them by car.
* Those not willing to camp can find nearby B&B or Hotel accommodation, or commute from Cape Town.
* All meals are included other than the lunch on Saturday that will be for your own account depending on the ride you go on.
* LIVE MUSIC and braai on Friday night
* A dance-band and dinner on Saturday night
* There will be entertainment for the children and for wives and girlfriends.
o Something special for Valentine's day
o Mini-quads for kids
o A guided quad tour of the farm for wives
o The Farmer's Market on Saturday morning with crafts, food and entertainment
* Rider events include:
o A bike gymkhana aimed at novices in a safe environment
o A skills challenge for GS riders
o A rally-style mystery tour for onroad riders, with an ALL NEW route - incorporating some of the feedback after last years event. The rest has to remain a mystery at this stage.
o Many exhibitors of biking and camping gear running special discounts for attendees.
o A green/orange and red outride for offroad riders on Saturday
o Graded routes on the estate for offroad riders
o An early ride on Sunday morning before brunch
o Many lucky-draw prizes along with ride and competition prizes.
Last year the overwhelming sentiment after the gathering was how pleasant it was to spend time with like-minded people - from the riders as well as their families.
