As artizans , we are taught to remove our wedding rings before working on Aircraft or vehicles , which I didnt, until one day I slipped on an Aircraft ladder and caught my wedding ring on a rivet.
The rivet pulled my ring under my skin and knuckle.
My Warrant officer then reminded me why it was so dangerous and I was lucky not to have lost my finger.
Well I left the South African Airforce in 1990 , after 10 yrs service.
And started wearing my ring again , on insistence of The Wife.
Mmmm, NOT Clever !
Well a year ago , as careful as I thought I was being , My hand , with a spanner in it , shorted circuited the positive terminal of a truck battery , under the vehicle with earth !!!
My Ring went red hot and I pulled pulled it off with my right hand , burning my fingers on my right hand too..
Well ja no well fine.
I now have a deep scar where my ring was.and I dont wear a ring any-more , But I am still married ! Lol
I had to wash that finger in salt water for two weeks every day for it to heal properly.
It Took along time to heal , and pulling the cluth was quite a mission
