I am a new member but have read a lot of the posts already.
My question is more about the dirt roads, specifically from Vioolsdrif to the Vis rivier Canyon and then beyond to Luderitz.
I had a Aprilia Pegasso before, but due to not trusting the reliability I never did much dirt, hence no sand experience to speak of. I have put about 1200km on my new GS1200 and like the bike alot. I am leaving on the 24th Dec to Namibia and my preferred route would be the dirt roads to the Vis rivier Canyon. I will be going alone and am worried about the possibility of hectic loose sand on the route. Gravel doesn't worry me to much. Also, does anyone know if Ai-Ais is open during that time and can I use Rands there or do I have to carry only Namibian Dollars - and where to get?
Any help will be appreciated. Anyone going that ways about the same time?
