I recently got my hands on a Nokia 5230. It's very similar to the 5800 that died on me but with the updated version of OVI Maps (Nokia Maps) - which, if you don't have the latest version, you can download for supported handsets.

Here's the thing - where in the past you had to buy licenses for navigation, it's now free. That includes turn by turn voice navigation and SA Maps.

Here's the part that sucks - they don't have PC based mapping software. I.e. you need to do everything on their online mapping site (https://maps.ovi.com/) and then get it to your phone somehow (I haven't tried yet). The online mapping tool doesn't seem to be as powerful or easy to use as Google Maps, but the maps seem pretty substantial.

I've also heard that you get Garmap for mobile - which I assume includes PC based mapping software that you can use to create routes, etc and then load to your phone via data cable?

Has anyone used either and what are your comments?
