My brother was flying in from Cape Town with a friend of ours, Sean, to meet me in the South of Portugal for one last party before I went into Africa where he thought I wouldn't make it out alive. My friend Matt was also going to meet me there for one last time.
I left Nice mid morning, and rode the 650km to Barcelona for the night where I stayed at my usual backpackers I have stayed at the previous times I had been there. Riding through inland Spain the following day the temperature got up to 48degrees, and I was boiling in my riding gear. My SHIFT riding jacket has space for a 3L reservoir, which really came in handy that day. I spoilt my self that night and stayed at a little hotel in a small town near Seville which I got at a good rate and served cheap food and hearty portions! The next morning I set off for Faro in Portugal where I left my bike at the KTM dealer for a service. I caught a bus up to Lisbon to meet up with my brother and Sean, and found them at the hotel they were staying at. I walked in and saw my brother, and snuck up behind him to surprise his and, he got such a surprise he punched me in my nose and made it bleed for about 20minutes. Haha, it was a typical. We went out that night for a dinner and a few drinks. in the morning, nursing our first hangover that week, we headed for the South, to the party town of Lagos, where we met Matt and booked into a hotel there. It's a small town, that in Summer becomes a manic town filled with bars and restaurants, tourists from all around the world, lined with breathtaking beaches and cliffs, with warm turquoise water and loads to do. I don't think I need to tell you how good of a party we had that week.
It was a bit sad saying bye, as I knew that from here out I wouldn't meet any familiar faces, but would meet new ones that made me excited. I headed down to Tarifa Spain, which would be my last bit of Europe. I got to the port after stoping off at a supermarket and buying some non-perishables that would become my staples through Africa. Namely pasta and rice and to that I would add a quarter block of stock for flavour. Light, easy, doesn't go off easily, just needs water and his high in carbohydrates which I would need to keep my weight up. Boarded the first ferry going to Tangier. A short 40min trip. Into Africa I go..
