Off road/sand riding

Sorry guys I'm sure I can find more than enough info on the forum but I thought it easier starting a new thread. Any general tips for dirt road riding especially sand? I've done a few dirt roads by now but I just followed instincts and common sense and would appreciate more technical specific advice.
