Ok Guys and Girls, I have been asked why we in the EL area don' have social rides, the last one being a year ago to Hogsback so here goes:
WHEN: 9, 10, 11 March 2012
WHERE: THOMAS RIVER HISTORICAL VILLAGE just off the road between Stutterheim and Cathcart and behind the Amathole range.
WHAT: We plan to ride up after work on Friday, 9 March and sleep over. The outride will only take place at 09:00 on Saturday to allow guys to have breakfast or for those only coming up on Saturday to get there.
At this point it is envisaged that we will go to Hogsback for lunch via Khologha, Gubu. Dontsa Pass, Keiskamma Hoek and up the Wolfridge Road to Hoggs. I am going to contact Rob Wicks to secure a visit to his MX Bike Museum.( Well worth a visit )
After the museum it's back to Old Thomas River via Happy Valley. There we will braai and do what WDs do.
Sunday's ride could include the Fern Dale loop past Bacela and back to OTR for a brunch or the guys wanting to get back early might take the gap.None of the routes are very technical and newbies are welcome.
If you are interested you must please do your own booking with either Andrew or Michelle. In order to secure braai packs they need confirmation and deposit BY FRIDAY 2 MARCH!!!!!!
Those camping, it can get cold up there as the altitude is about 1300m. There are electrical points for campers.
RATES: Station Master's House ( 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 15 ) and Station Foreman's House ( 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 12 ) R 150-00 per person per night.
Post Office Dormitory ( sleeps 16 ) R75-00 per person per night.
Camping R 80-00 per night per site includes 2 people.
FOOD: Braai packs ( steak, sausage, chop and 3 salads including fire at the deck- R 75-00
Breakfast R 45.00. You must book the night before.
