Old vs New KLR

I was wondering if anyone knows the difference in performance between the old KLR and the new '08 model? I know that there are certain engine changes on the new model, and think it produces more power, but I also know that it is a little heavier.  (153kg vs 175kg) both dry weights.

Any guys who had the old one and got the new? I'm thinking of getting the newer version but not so sure??

Also I still really like how the old one looks.
