Just out of interest.....I've scratched around a bit.
On the older bikes, say the big singles 500-650cc, the weights are ALL around the 140/145 (dry) weight area.
The heaviest being the XT 660R (155), and the lightest the TT 600 (124) and the old XT 500 (140)..........lets sort of exclude them as "dual purpose/adventure" bikes, then the lightest dual purpose is the XT 600 Tenere (135).
I'm talking dry weights ONLY here.
.........how does this compare with the newer dual sport/adv bikes today, let's say from around 2010 upwards, and engine capacity 600cc upwards??
Is it only me, or are the new bikes heavier?? I know they have WAY more power, PTW Ratio is much higher, etc etc.......??
Here's a list of older Bikes I've Googled:
(Youll see I added +- 17kg to get to an approximate wet weight, on the GS Beemers a wee bit more, they have slightly larger tanks).
