It all left me truly speechless and it's hard to breathe...

My thoughts are with Jaco's family and people close to him.

Rest in peace, Jaco.

Sad sad sad news, condolences to his family. True words SGB

Hi Stefan

I am glad you were finally able to make a report of it, and set the poignancy of it all on record. Your words at the end are hopefully taken to heart by at least one person who reads it, as those words are sadly pure reality.

I hope the healing has begun for Jaco's family; its so unbelievably sad for such a young family to go through this, and I trust that the healing will work itself out for you guys too.

With much respect, sadness and admiration for your guys courage,

George

Last week we had a Father-son sleep out on the rugby field and got chatting with one dad about biking. He related this accident without naming Jaco and I immediately recognized it to be this accident. Asked him if it was Jaco.

Confirmed. They were buds in varsity and still saw each other now-and-then. He attended the funeral.

Small world.

 SGB, I'm really sorry to hear the sad news and please pass on my condolences to Jaco's family

It is a small world. I stayed over at the Kendhardt hotel a couple of weeks ago, on my way to the Buff this year and Eeton (owner of the hotel) told me about Jaco's accident :( ... I never expected to read about it here. Truly sad and things can change so quickly.

Many thanks for sharing your experiences and the pics.

Thanks DaCat, I have only good things to say about all the people of Kenhardt. Eeton and his wife looked after us very well at the hotel too, and I will make an effort to go back there.

I hear you. I wanna go back to ride through Keimoes and stop to take pics this time. Maybe I'll make it a weekend ride and sleep over at Kenhardt again. The thought of those lamb chops make my mouth water ... and I never eat lamb

They really are good people 8)

I was reminded about this ride today.  A policeman from Kakamas detective branch phoned this morning and asked if I could see him in Bfn.  Met with him, and I was told that this case is now under investigation.  They required a statement from me about what happened on the day.  Amazing....  It is more than 6 years later and the SAPS now want to investigate.  And we gave statements at the Kenhardt police station on the day.  They are now missing from the file.  At least I could refer to this report for some dates, details etc.  Unbelievable.....

CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS
