:thumleft: great report thanks for taking the time

apart from the bike problems it appears you guys had a great ride.
The camping pics in Gamchab look fantastic - really a spectacular setting.

This is a bit more disturbing:  :D

Thanks for posting, Wino. Expertly done. Love the pics.

LS, Wino, Sot - no grudges whatsoever. I'm actually glad that you understood how I fealt. Just very dissappointed that I missed out on one hell of a trip, and the bash.

Next time...!

Don't worry Butch - you are still welcome in Centurion...  When are you coming up again?  Have something special planned in the Zeerust area

Nice RR Wino... remember - friends don't let friends walk...  Get him to get rid of that unreliable 'ready to race' machine >:D

Hey Lekke RR!!

Hey Butch, just glad my brother could help out.... :thumleft: :thumleft: - at least there was enough beers for you!!  ;)

Remember when you guys go trough there again!! always a leke place to stop for a cold beer!

Great RR and awesome photos :thumleft: Every time I read a Nam RR, I get restless and itch to get on the road!!

Thanks for sharing...

Day 6

[A woman overhears (probably listened intently) Sot’s situation with the brakes and points us to a motocycle mechanic in town. A quick call, he’s got some pads in stock. We spend a good 40min riding in a complete circle to try and locate the shop. It is getting hot and the traffic, although sparse compared to what we are generally accustomed to, irritates me.

What a nice guy and good setup. If ever you need assistance in the area, visit him.

No shit. The guy, who goes by the name of Merwyn (with a W) actually phoned me last week to find out whether we all got home safely, best wishes for the season etc. One would expect these courtesies from someone you had bought a R140k bike from, but the total cost of repairs, labour and parts included, came to a paltry R295.00. He stocks a lot of generic stuff of the sort that gets broken on trips (clutch, brake levers, cables) and any dogs travelling in that area (Upington) would do well to remember his details:

BIKECARE 054 331-3757/082-639-7045

If your bike gets stuffed completely you can always buy one of these beauties off the floor. Seems he specialises in restoring old dirt bikes.

Most epic journey with great write-up and photo's to give those of us, who are not able to make these trips, feel really jealous.

2 aspects which stand out for me is the great idea of throwing water over a bike which will not start and the extreme pink bed / floating river raft, which LS blew on his journey.

The saddest part of the write-up was clearly how the boys were devastated by leaving Butch behind on the route.

The greatest part, is the fact that the boys all made it back safe to once again ride and post their great memories to share with us.

 Respect.
