Outside temperature gauge for a Toyota 3D 4D 4X4

Hope someone can help me?I bought a Toyota single cab 3D 4D 4X4 last year but it has no gauge for the outside temperature. The extended cab and double cab come standard with the gauge but not mine. Toyota tell me the soft ware does not support my vehicle to fit one after wards. Now I don't believe them. Does anyone know how I can fit the gauge and sensor and where is the sensor located.
