Mark, I happen to also start out on that "plathuis" road today, we spent a lot of time in the area a few years ago, so it was a memory trip.

However, I did not even make it to the drift you picture[before the floods] , it would have taken too long riding a river bed. :imaposer:

Mark, that "before" photo, the very rockface in the background has an interesting littl estory around it. The local farmers told us that a young man was in love with one of the local farmer's daughters, and the farmer told him he could have his daughter's hand in marriage if he climbs up a precarious cliff-face[the one in the background] , to pick her an orchid that grew there. Well, the suitor fell to his death trying to get to the rare flower, and to this day he haunts the area.

no way tru the river bed i walked everywhere for 2 hours trying a way around the puddle...
tru thorn bushes etc etc...
maybe next Sunday ;)
