Poop scoop BMW 1200 GS

I recently bought my dream bike, BMW 1200 GS,  second hand. The poop scoop was included, but not fitted. I have heard that it is better not to fit it,  to rather ride without it. Any input from you guys as to fit it, or rather ride without it?
