Always looking for an opportunity to go ride, my brother informed me they are busy with the Police Force tou trek in Parys. He hails from Hartenbos, and because i only see family from Cape Town every few years, gathered this will be perfect. I searched for a few routes on the forum, and as expected, found a couple of nice dirt road routes. The other half informed me about the cold front, but i ignored her flat.......stubbornness will bite me in the arse later........

Getting the bike ready for the short solo trip to Parys....

That garage looks very "healthy"  :thumleft:
Waiting for the rest  :ricky:

Wanted to leave as early as possible, just waited for the sun to make an appearance. I hate lane splitting through Joburg traffic, but eventually made it through only to be faced with a truck that lost it's load of wooden poles all over the highway....

Through the Grasmere toll, temperatures dropped significantly. Stopped at the Parys turn-off for a quick change of gloves. Someone mentioned the Parys airfield, so made quick stop for a cup of coffee. Spoke to Willie (think it is his name), what a cool ou toppie. He gave me directions to where the tou trekking was taking place, informal settlement's soccer stadium.

At the soccer stadium, all the regional Police force teams were competing against each other for a place in the national squad. Had some more coffee and was very cool to see my older brother again...

Seeing as Parys is Swambo's favourite place (for shopping), i found it quite amusing that i am in Parys and she is not.....normally i would have to endure endless shops up and down the main road.

The only "shop" i was interested in is the Pickled Pig......

So after buying a small prezzie for her in town, we had a few beers after the tou trek at the PP.

had a lekker kuier the evening only to endure the most horrendous episodes of snoring throughout the night by the rest of the Police force guys... :p

In light of the fact that i was in a hurry to get to Parys, i only packed lightly so had to lend some warmer clothes....

The next (this) morning, i was greeted by sub zero temperatures with real feel of -9 C. The pig's seat described this perfectly....
I was keen to leave and follow the dirt tracks......but the pig was not so keen.. :(
Bike did not start due to the cold and battery was also flat.
After jump starting the battery, i left with basically all my clothing on my body in the direction to Fochville. After couple of km's, turned right and eventually found what i was looking for.......

The route was approximately 66.8km of some of the best gravel road's i have ever ridden. Route ends at Modderfontein, close to the R28. Slabbed it tar from there back to Pretoria.
