Rechargaeable batteries in an etrex

Was just wondering wether the batteries can be recharged while using the GPS connected to the bike's battery?

Similarly are they recharged while connected to a PC via the usb cable?

I've always used alkaline batteries when not connected to the power cable on the bike or when on my plastic

At 2 batteries a day, rechargeable may be the way to go..... ???
