Decided on Tuesday that I get my a**e into gear and do the roadworthy / registration thingy, and become "legal".
Tootled off to the closest roadworthy centre, where they successfully managed to cause me to part with R160-00 of my hard-earned moola. Within 5 minutes it was all over, and I had in my paw a piece of paper stating that said machine was fully up to the standards as required.
The examiner stood behind the bike, asked for left and right indicator, and brake light. He didn't check hooter, brakes front indicators or headlight (not that there were / are any problems), and sent me on my way.
I ducked off to Benoni to do the paperwork, and stood in the "pre-processing" queue for about 15 minutes. All paperwork in order, I was given a number and told to sit and wait, and wait, and wait some more.
My number was only 30 away from the person curently being served, but with TWO tellers operating, it took me 2 1/2 hours to get sorted . By this time I was :angry4:
All the while, there's an electronic billboard scrolling words to the effect that "Gauteng Provincial Government Service Delivery Centre" was / is there to "Aggressively Serve Our Needs". Like HELL.
Fast forward to yesterday... When I left home at 0930 to go to work, it was a little overcast, but I decided that I would take a chance on the weather. (I haven't got a rain-suit yet).
Everything went well until about 30 minutes before knowc-off time, then it started raining. Fortunately not too hard... but enough to get my pants wet. I wear a dayglo yellow Drimac jacket at all times, so my body was dry.
I guess life is all about a series of firsts... This was my first wet, and will certainly not be my last.
