KTM 950 Adventure
Have been waiting for rain to do a ride through Chimes and the mine dumps on the way to Grutte Bush Pub.
Did the ride last week Friday with my KTM 950 also to test the regulator I replaced that morning.
Last minute ride so a mate of mine on his KTM 640 joined me.
Had a lot of fun trying the big bike up the climbs, it was still very wet so lots of traction. Im running the Motoz Rallz on the rear with a Pirelli MT21 in front.
Tyres worked really well in the sand and slick areas we rode.
Had to build up a small step up about 40cm onto a root in the one path with branches, made it up but was a bit nervous doing it on the 950.
Had a good lunch at Grutte and headed back.
Here is the video of the ride

Chimes - funny, we were talking about it on the weekend, we used to go there with the quad-bikes 20 years ago - we decided the zama-zama's would make it unpleasant now - whats it actually like now tho? From a safety point of view?

Oh - any chance you could send me the gos tracks - I would be interested in venturing out that way once my XC is back on the road....

I would not park at the chimes tavern and ride out, the left side of the river I also would not ride ( between the highway and river ) as they removing the dumps and there is plenty Zama Zama's . right side of river is still ok to ride. If you go out to Springs there is zama zama's in the area just after the golf course where you cross the tar road, I use the tar road around that area and join back up just before the Steers at the fuel station in Springs, from Springs to Grutte is still nice riding and a few mine dumps to play on. I dont have a route on gps as i know the area well, will plot a route on google earth when i get a gap and post it.
