Grey Hound
After my well-documented off with TrailRider on Saturday, I set about repairing most of the damage caused by the stones scratching the plastics quite badly. Started off using 600 wet&dry, then 1000 and finally some 2400 grit. This removed almost all the sracthes except the very deep ones. went througfh the above process on the windshield, tank protector and hand guard as well.
Then a trip through to George to speak to the panelbeaters who had previously done a excellent job on my wife's car. The plastics specialist said I should get a bottle of Farecla Total Dry Polish. Went to an automotive refinishers suppliers and picke up a bottle - should have asked the price first - R297 a litre - and that's the trade price
!
Anyway, back home I went and followed the instructions - man, this stuff is amazing! You get the best finish using a variable speed angle grinder with a special buffing pad (more serious bucks) but I just did it with a folded damp cloth as directed. When you rub it on, you can HEAR the polish cutting(polishing) the paint! After a serious amount of elbow grease, the various panels ended up looking pretty good. When I have some energy, I'm going to do the whole bakkie! Didn't use it on the black plastic tank protector, used Wynn's Black Back.
