Reverse into bike parking

I've been wondering about this lately.

I have been riding a fair time and always reverse into a parking. It is like the standard, get to a parking, do a half turn and reverse in. Lately though it seems bikers just park and then reverse out when leaving. For me (old school) this is weird but then I started thinking if there really is a good reason to reverse in. I sometimes even reverse in when it is uphill! Old habits and all that.
