And finally we were at last at the base of the Rhino's horn.

Just a quick clamber up the last 20 odd meters to get right to the top.

Not that easy in cumbersome off road boots

WOW  Magnificent views
Thanks for sharing

Note to self ......Must get there must get there  :ricky: :thumleft:

Great job getting up there (especially on the 690 hippo)!  :thumleft:

I chickened out under that hill last time and went looking for an alternative, which took me too much time and hence had to turn back to outrun encroaching storm defeated. But those were early times of my Lesotho exploration, now with more experience I would just gun it up and ses what happens.

And when we made it up to Rhino eventually while doing traverse from Sehlabathebe with Iain, Stuart and Highsider , the storm was closing in again so there was not time to climb the 'horn' and after few pictures we turned tail and run to Sani. I will have to go back just to touch the final base on top of the horn to really tick this one off properly.

Cool video indeed....and brilliant pics - thanks for sharing JonW  :thumleft:

Hey Martin, we planning to do the full trip early February, you welcome to come along if you want.

And then it was time to head home.

As is usually the case the homeward journey seemed much easier and quicker than the one there.

The riding was still pretty tiring all the way to sani Stone Lodge, no easy track to ride on, just jarring rocks and those incessant grassy tuffts.

Coming down the Majoe Matso pass was also way easier than going up

And before long at a very respectable time in the afternoon we arrived back at Sani Top.

We headed straight to the shebeen across the road from Sani top where the Malutis were as tasty and as cold as those in the "highest pub", but less than half the price  :thumleft:

Outside the tavern I was approached by this official KTM Finance dude, who told me my bike an obsolete piece of crap and he can finance a brand new 500 for me at a surprisingly low monthly payment  :laughing4:

After a few beers we headed back to the Lodge for an hour or two rest, then we decided to ride out to the saddle near the lodge and check out the views

By this stage we were pretty knackered, so we had a relatively quiet evening at the Lodge and got to be quite early.

We had arranged to be up early the following morning, the plan was to leave at 06h00 for Thabana Ntletyana, because heavy rains were predicted to start at 10h00 that morning, and none of us were keen to get caught out in the mountains in the rain.

The ride was due to be a relatively short one, and looking at the track that I got from Xpat, didn't look to be particularly difficult either  >:D

Nice RR, thanks for sharing looks like a great ride. I placed a rock on the cairn on rhino peak over 40 years ago.brings back lots of memories. Well done on completing the ride.

Stunning views!

Did you have a chat to the guy hanging out on top of Rhino's horn, interested to know what he was doing there?

Well done Jon, as always a great ride report and some stunning pics and drone footage. I think you need to buy a drone!

Great report [member=408]JonW[/member] !
