Hi! This is my first post!

Two days back I was about to buy my first bike ever, a Kawasaki KLE500 (1997, 48,000km on the clock) and the guy wanted R25,000 neg for the bike. So I am not clued up yet on the prices of the bikes and what I am supposed to look at during a sale, but anyhoo. I must say it is in good shape and the bike looks great. Then yesterday I phoned a few bike shops just to verify the price and they said the bike should not go for more than R18,000!
So now I am not sure what to tell the guy who wants to sell the bike. I know him pretty well, and I know that he wont try and do me in on the bike, so he really thinks its worth R25.
What should I do?
And how much is this bike actually worth?
