My R1200GSA was booked into Zambezi Motorrad for its 10k service tomorrow. Then I broke a tooth this morning, and needed an emergency appointment with the dentist. Only open spot the dentist had was tomorrow at 7h45. So I called Zambezi and asked what time they opened the workshop, to make sure that I would be able to get to all my appointments. The workshop manager told me 7am so I reckon thats cool, enough time to get to the dentist, JUST, if I am there at 7, and the loan bike is ready and waiting.
Then Greg phones me around 3-ish, and tells me that the loan bike I am going to use has just been returned, and if it suits me I can bring my bike in early, this afternoon, which will take the pressure off my schedule in the morning. Brilliant service I reckon, so I saddle up and take the tank down to Zambezi, in peak hour traffic.
Book the bike in for its service, and take delivery of the loan bike. A brand spanking new red F700.
At first I was dissapointed, I actually wanted to give the new 1200LC a test drive, and when I sat on the little 700 it felt so small. But it has over half a tank of fuel, and it was free, so I didn't complain. I got on and drove off, stopped to adjust the mirrors, and then started to get the feel of the "little one".
Well, it took me all of about 2 minutes. The difference between my big 1200 GSA, and this little one is like chalk and cheese. It wasn't long and I was lanesplitting back down Zambezi drive, in peak traffic, like a pro!
The engine is very gutsy, revs like a demon, and the clutch has a solid feel to it. But it was the handling that really got me grinning like a cheshire cat!!! MAN!!! Its like my old 50cc, light as a feather, just tiny inputs into bars and she does exactly what I want her to. Nimble as a ballerina! Jiss I had such a JOL riding it home. What a stunning little bike.
Tomorrow I have to use it to get to the dentist, and I am actually looking FORWARD to going to the dentist, I mean, what sort of kak is this? Anyway, its a great little bike, carries my dikgat 90+kg with consumate ease, stops like I chucked an anchor overboard, and pulls like a steamtrain.
I dont think it will be as comfy as the 1200 when 2-up and loaded, and I think it'll struggle to keep up a cruising speed of 160 under the same conditions. But what a brilliant little bike!!! :thumleft:
