Hi all, no jokes... it's sea turtle hatching season in Northern Natal & many cold-stunned hatchlings are washing up on the Cape South Coast right now (received 7 this weekend already); if not rescued from the beach, the seagulls & dehydration will kill them.
Got a call from a guy who found one in Wilderness just now. I ran him through the rehydration & stabilization protocol, but need to organise a lift Wildnerness to Cape Town asap tomorrow (Two Oceans Aquarium, but anywhere close to CBD will do). The turtle is tiny (palm of your hand), about 50-60g only & will travel in a container the size of an ice cream tub. Has to travel by car, will not handle noise/vibration from a bike well...
I know WD's will be a good place to start...
A couple months of intensive rehab & he'll be good to go back into the wild.
