Very simple setup, chain with shackles through the footpegs, one guy leans the bike to compress the suspension and one guy fastens.

Nice to read this write up.  By doing it as a few days ride, like you did you, get an enormous amount of riding in during a short time.  And a good idea to leave some excess stuff at Ben's to keep it light. 

Is the pass that you mention the one just beyond Ben's to cross from the Marienfluss to the West side of the mountains?

That's the one yes. The one where there's a sharp right hander and then a bunch of steps. I remember because I stalled right on that turn
