Single bike trailer - Is this possible?

The idea started with the tow hitch trailers as in the first image.  They are great for small distances but would like to get the rear wheel off the ground.

Next up is the 'mechano' single bike trailers as in the second image.

The last image got me thinking.  Would it be possible to join the concepts?
- single bike trailer
- single wheel on trailer
- universal joint on tow hitch to keep it upright
- ??
