Grumpy Mutt
I just found a very interesting thread, if you are a GS rider only! a guy retrofitting an 1150GS skid plate to an R1150R, so the question was in which order do the two plates and the rubber mounts get assembled?
Mine is as per the factory manual, rubber mounts straight into the sump then the two plates together.
The yank had a sketch showing the small plate, then the rubber mounts then the second plate. This would make some sense as the small plate has a hole for the sump plug access.
Note, the sump plate assembly is delivered loose in the packing case, so all mechanics would bolt it on as per the manual, possibly incorrectly, as the hole in the inner then makes no sense.
If you know my history with these sump guards, you would understand my interest.
Help me now Camo Jo.
