Slaaihoek Pass just for starters has the weirdest name. This super tarred pass is relatively modern and beautifully engineered. This 24,5 km long pass descends more than 600m, is a dead-end and ends at the Nokomati nickel mine in Mpumalanga. Despite the excellent modern engineering, this is an exceptionally dangerous road. In our 3 part video series which you can watch on the link below, we explore the pass, the mine and offer a range of safety advisories.
Our Jhb based associate Mike Leicester, who is also an adventure biker, and the man who filmed the pass, expressed grave (pun intended) concerns about the dangers for bikers on this pass. We would like to hear your opinion on this pass in terms of the inherent dangers, regardless of whether you agree or disagree with us.
You can access the full page and watch the videos (free) until Sunday. :thumleft: https://bit.ly/2glifhI
