Greetings all
Its with a very heavy heart I am selling these two IT490s. :'( :'( :'(
I have been wanting to rebuild an IT for a VERY long time and now that I have them, I cant due to having not much in the way of spare time as I am working two jobs at the mo to try keep afloat! Hence I must do the unthinkable and part company with my two dream machines!!
Anyways, I bought them both in running condition, with the idea of making one out of the two. What I have done so far is as follows
Stripped one bike down to the frame
The other is still together
I have bought a spare original tank as one has a slight leak
I have bought a set of aftermarket side covers and rear mud guard from a chap in Australia (R4000 worth, but they are beautifully made.)
I have a new wiseco 28mm piston.(Paid R2500 for it) (still have original piston)
The barrel has been rebored to match the new piston
second hand speedo
second hand front headlight shroud and headlight unit
second hand air filter cage
new needle and float for one carb(already fitted)
New rear suspension bearing/seal/roller rebuilt kit
new front and rear wheel bearings and seals
new swing arm rebuild kit
complete gasket set for one motor
head stem bearings top and bottom
new kickstart spring(these are common to break)
new heavy duty clutch springs
new clutch friction plates
new chain rollers
new coil
new spark plug
new gearbox bearings and seals
new yamaha conrod kit and crank pin and thrust washers for both engines
one crank has had the new conrod kit fitted and has been balanced correctly.
new clymer workshop manual
automotive paint and primer to spray the frame and motor
I have started on the rebuild but havent managed to get a rolling chassis, due to circumstances. I started a rebuild tread here, if you want to have a look

With buying the two bikes and all the spares, I have invested more than R20 000 already. I have always known that I will spend a heap more than the IT is worth to get it how I want it, but I suppose one has to pay a certain amount of "legend tax" for this kind of project.
I would love to get my money back for obvious reasons, but know that is asking a lot. So, not quite sure how to do this. Sell everything for a fixed price, or have a bidding war for a few days for those who are keen??
