Interesting article that was published in the Soldier of Fortune Magazine many years ago.

Bedonderd !!

Yip...... we trained hard and fell hard  :deal:

But it was so worth it. :thumleft:

There are many bikesquad posts on WD......just search :thumleft:

One of my favourite pics.

:eek7:

Tough boys on tough bikes! Would love to get hold of that magazine to read the article.
I've heard some great stories about the bike squad here in PE in the ol' days!

Yes Chris, we pushed a lot and hardly ever did a 2,4 or 5 k run without our bikes....... and we weren't allowed to take our chains off either :deal:

On ops we ate dinner at about 17h00 and then had to push our bikes with all our kit to our TB, up to 1 km distance at least.

@ Badger: There is currently a thread for Best RR of the Year but I still reckon that RR of yours about your Bike Squad years is one for the WD Hall of Fame.  Read it a few times already.  Looking for the link to post here.

My intake was '79/'80 (Bokkop at 3 SAI in Potch, not Bike Squad), I think it was in 1980 that they started introducing the XR500s

Thanks Dorsland  :thumleft:

I was 83/84 intake. Platoon 13.
The 81/ 82 intake got XR's 1st if im not mistaken.
Suzuki SP 370's were used before that.

Thanks for the update Badger,  I must have seen the XRs on my first camp after klaarout.  It's a looooooooong time and a lifetime ago.

Post that link to your RR here please, I want to bookmark it in my folder of special stuff from when men were men and sheep were nervous :thumleft:

Hy was die kurator by die kasteel se museum.

Great tye saam met great mense gewees.

Aaaah thanks Vossie........ That means a lot man...... cheers :thumleft:

We had good parties in Otavi. Do you perhaps remember a captain that threw a hand grenade into a Free Masons meeting in Windhoek I think it was ? Big court case! He ended up in our base at Otavi !

We used to always stop for a swim in the Otokotomeer (spelling?) near the Owambo gates. Stunning little cave on the other side.

That would be GREAT........ Thanks ZA, any info would be fantastic. :thumleft:
