I've always ridden with adventure kit/riding jeans. With the little Rally I've now ended up riding dirt 90% of the time. Really enjoying the therapy. Getting the dust or mud out of the jacket and pants is a mission though and dust in the helmet and in the eyes is a problem. Also figuring impact protection is more important than sliding down a road with the riding I'm doing. Not fast enough to do any substantial sliding in any case. I've been considering for a while to move to off-road/mx kit. Body armour, MX boots, goggles, and, and, and... I've seen some tempting stuff on the classifieds, but I realized that I know *** about the stuff. Figured WD is as good a place as any to ask some really stupid questions.
MX pants all go IN the boot? No seams on the inside of the pants leg?
Do MX pants have any armour, or is it all up to what you wear? Knee-guards, padded shorts, etc.?
Knee-guards or braces always inside the pants?
Knee guards - Any base layers to protect from chaffing?
Body armour - T-shirt underneath with MX jersey over the armour?
Are goggles mostly the same size or are there some specifics to fit the helmet?
