My Old Year's Resolution: Dont forget what you experienced in the last year. I did the Easter Namib Desert Run 2009 and although it is a bit late to post the RR, is is better than not posting at all. So here goes:

I had recently (Feb 09) acquired an X Challenge and desperately wanted to do some serious riding. ENDR cought my eye and I decided to go for it. I wansnt really up for such a huge group of people, but I didnt have many connekkies down here to ride with.

I had no friends or backup, so I was gonna have to be self suficient. Here is my gear:

Here it is all packed away:

The campsite in Kuruman (Red Sands). I came a day earlier to make friends and hopefully beg a ride for my red totebox with luxuries. If the latter was not possible, I was gonna have to only take the necessary stuff on the bike.

The riding has started. I didn't keep a detailed diary of where we stopped so from here on its just random pics with the odd comment

Seen here are they guys I befriended who kindly carried my tote in their bakkie: Esteemed WC Dogs - Bradleys, Fouriekop, KTM Bigger, Mountainboy,

Having left Molopo behind, we arrived at the pan (of which the name escapes me). There is the usual dicing and messing about.

This is the resident pet at the hotel who have been misguided into believing that he actually IS a housecat.

The lunch spot on the way to Windhoek. I was too sick from jippoguts to remember the name.

Next part will come tomorrow...

Heading towards Windhoek, Mountainboy chooses a nice line on the XR (more about choosing a line on the XR a little later).

At the campsite in Windhoek I came across this guy. He didnt come out of his tent and wasnt part of the run, so I assumed he is expeditioning to somewhere ???

Now, MB had to lighten up the day for us by choosing this line and performing a 4m base-jump off the XR.

Solitaire: In April these weren't even in SA yet, so it was amazing to see it in a desert.

Friday I did just over 600km to arrive back at Red Sands. Funny what you get up to when bored on a bike.
