Firstly apologies allround for not introducing myself, never was any good at protocol.
David Brewer 46 maried 3 kids 21,17 & 13. (did'nt have time for adventure riding, too busy in the saddle!!!!)
Late entry into off-road racing @ 36 the usual bikes. KDX 200(Kawasaki) RMX 250 (Suzuki- ganda-ganda), KX 250 (Kawasaki),WR 250 (Yamaha) Gas Gas 250, WR-F 250 (Yamaha) KTM 300 EXC KTM 450 EXC Montessa trials bike & at present back on a KTM 300.
Had many crash courses in 10 years of off-road riding. Both ankles, both shoulders & split my patella.
Finished the Roof of Africa on both attempts, Northern Regions Senior Champion Harescrambles in 2002, & the events i enjoyed the most & am still doing are WFO's (enduros) in Natal.
Have started my 17 year old son on enduros, KDX 200. Not long before he beats me, then time for me to concentrate on pit-crewing for him. A seriously sad day!
I own a restaurant in Magnolia Dell Pta, Huckleberry's. Never going to be a millionaire, but it pays the bills & allows me certain luxuries.
Quite a few friends have been involved in adventure riding, the KTM clan & my BMW buddies, hence my confused state & my dazed "club name".
I am now at the stage where i feel like buggering off into our neighbouring countries, touring our own scenic land & chilling instead of competing.
I want to avoid tar as much as possible,( i don't have a licence ) but also realise that in order to get to certain destinations you need to traverse these roads.
I love my missus & kids dearly, BUT they are not included in my plans for these selfish trips!!!!
She thinks it's a midlife crisis - she does'nt realise that with my family history of dread diseases, that midlife was at 25!
I have the occasional brain fade & therefore will be tempted by certain adventurer friends to attempt obstacles & paths better suited to off-road bikes. I don't even have a bike yet but KNOW that this will be the case. I never said i was smart!!
I have spent a fair amount of time on this website & it appears as if this forum has attracted an interesting mixture of bikers (wanted to say miscreants but not wanting to offend at this early stage)
Plothound, your expose on the on-going debate of BMW or KTM is spot on. Thanks.
Not sure if you all get together at some bash or other, but would like to get to know all of you. Can't wait to start touring, have to get a bike first, which now brings me to this point.
BARGAIN KTM 990 ADV. WANTED! Please contact me
Cheers
