Suggestions: Christmas to New Year ride.

Between Christmas and New Years I want to take the family and the bikes and ride some quiet roads to small towns, probably in the Karoo direction.

Looking for quiet, not too technical gravel and small towns with inexpensive accommodation.

Any suggestions?
